Large West, Small East win All-State high school baseball

Large Schools The story: Yukon?s Landon Eason hit an RBI single thatto break a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning, enabling the West to a take a 3-1 victory against the East in the All-State Baseball game at Johnson Stadium. Russell Mithlo of Anadarko knocked in the insurance run on a groundout RBI. Hunter Heath of Bethel drove in Owasso?s Trae Bobo in the second inning for the East?s only run.got the only run for the East in the second inning. Trey Bobo of Owasso scored the run. The East collected only got four hits against West pitching. Top performances: Zach Jackson of Berryhill came in relief in the third inning. He had three strikeouts against four batters. He finished with four Ks while yielding no runs, two hits and two walks. Heath led the East with 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Eason was also 2-for-3 for the West. Noteworthy: Austin O?Brien of Owasso received the Jim Thorpe Award as the state?s best baseball player for 2013. Larry Turner of Owasso was named OCA Baseball Coach of the Year. Small Schools The story: Zach Fowler of Asher hit a three-shotrun home run and Dylan Fazekas of Red Oak hit a two-shotrun home run to catapult the East to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Wyatt Dodd of Central Sallisaw drilled a three-run double to boost the East lead to 8-4 in the fifth inning. Caney Valley?s Kyle Knight had three strikeouts in the first three innings before giving up four runs on four hits in innings four and five through five innings. Top performances: Jake Collins of Latta was 2-for-4 with one double and two RBI for the Small East. Dover?s Leno Ramirez went 2-for-4 for the West including a two-RBI single in that cut the East lead to 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning.
