STRONG ENFORCEMENT: Mary Jo White on Tuesday promised senators she would make "bold and unrelenting" enforcement of Wall Street a high priority if confirmed chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
FORMER PROSECUTOR: White, a former U.S. attorney in Manhattan, would be the first ex-prosecutor to become SEC chairman. She is expected to win confirmation.
POTENTIAL CONFLICTS: During the Senate hearing, White was pressed about her work in recent years as a corporate litigator. She has represented some of the largest banks and corporations, including JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft and General Electric. She pledged to avoid conflicts of interest if confirmed to the job.
